So I have two Beardies, Messi and Ressi and they’re not pooping well. I have no idea what’s causing it but I do think it’s because of parasites or wrong temperature. They’re in seperate cages. The temperature in the first cage are 40°- 45° C in the basking spot and 30°- 35° C in the cold side. The second cage’s temperatures are around 40°- 48° in the basking area and 30°- 34° in the cold side (measured with temp gun) They both have the Exo Terra Reptiglo tube 10.0-12.0 UVb. Diet consists mostly of Arugula, butternut squash, sweet potato, carrot, bell pepper, romaine salad, parsnip and fieldsalad, and occasionally to rarely apple, cucumber, mango, grapes. I dust the food with Red-cal Calcium 4-5 times a week and Rep-Cal Herptivite 1 a week. Feeder insect right now are mealworms dusted in calcium, 5 a day. I’m going to buy superworms soon, which I’m going to give 6-7 a day. When they poop, it’s usually diarrhea. Like, very watery poop and smudged everywhere. I watched once while Messi pooped, and it seemed like she was struggling. She eventually “pooped” water... I’m definitely considering going to a traditional vet (only vet in my country). Now here’s my question: If I want my vet to check her for parasites, should he/she do a fecal sample only, or also bloodtests or something else too? They’re not exotic vets, but do have some experience, and unfortunately do not have the right medical equipments for lizards and other exotic animals. I’m guessing every vet knows how to do a fecal sample.
