My vet was concerned about a slightly rough small patch of skin but said it could just be weird shedding. Today the underneath of it appears yellow but the new skin is less rough but still a little bit darker. This is the only unusual patch on his body. Is this yellow fungus or could it be something else? If its YF is this an early stage and still possible for recovery or will it just continue over time to get worse over time even with future treatment?

Thank you!

Hello,

That seems like natural coloring to me. Sometimes the scales that are shedding off can change a weird color. It also could've been some food stuck on it. But I'm guessing that it's just natural pigmentation.

When Loki shed recently his scales looked just like that and has been perfectly happy and healthy the whole time. :D

Hello,

I agree, I don't think it looks fungal either. A lot of times, skin underneath looks a little bit
discolored for a day or so after a shed has just been finished.
Unless it starts looking like it is spreading or something of that nature, I wouldn't worry too
much about it.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
