id hoped never to be posting here again ;(

Lizzy was fine last night at bed time. I have returned from church to take her out for play time and her right front arm is totally limp. She's not using it to walk at all. She's just dragging it.

When I took her from her tank she didn't really want to come out but she had her happy colors on. She still pretty much does. Her beard isn't black and she isn't gaping when I move her leg. I'm absolutely distraught. I had put a little ladder in there this week and she has been running amuck but now I'm not even sure if it happened when I was trying to get her from her tank. Tho I'm pretty careful :/

Any way money tight, I hate saying that because I feel like Vet obviously but any advice would be appreciated!!

Sorry to hear this Suzanna, can you post a pic of the ladder ? It sounds like you need to take it out ASAP.

Anyway you can post a video of her walking ? That could be helpful. It's probably just a sprain [ hopefully ]

It was just a repti hammock on the wall AHBD and I ripped that son of a B out the moment I saw her leg. My is flattening the cage set up so no furniture and putting a towel. Can u tell me to post a vid my son is trying to get her as I type.

Thank for quick reply!

Yeah, get rid of the ladders + hammocks for sure. And I'm afraid that I have no idea how to post a vid....I see people have them on youtube + then post here. Someone who knows how to do it should reply soon.

At any rate, it's most likely a sprain....if you made her basking areas flat + soft and let her rest that's probably going to do the trick. I think she would react much worse if it were a break but of course the only way to be positive is to have an xray done.

Ah, a young person in the house always knows about these things. :) But yeah, poor girl, that's enough walking, just let her rest now. A sprain is most likely, but again, only an xray would tell you for sure.

Thank you AHBD. I really wanna take her out and cuddle her but she's actually got her leg in a forward propped position in her viv. So going to leave her be. She got a little excited at the site of all her blankies laid out on the floor but now she looks like she's a bit miffed at the furniture removal.

In the morning if she's still dragging it as badly I will have to take her in. I just couldn't live with myself if it's dislocated. The vets aren't open on Sunday unless you have a very thick pocket pocket book. I do wish she would eat some salad or something tho.

I was in the process of making her a giant sized wall climber and hammock. Not sure I'm going to do that now. She never gets hurt when she's supervised :(

Poor girl, I'm glad she has a responsible parent :) I would give advice but I've not seen this in my reptile family. So I would go with AHBD's advice. I know weekend vet visits can cost a lot and often the emergency clinics don't have good experience with reptiles so it can be worth it to wait.

Moving like how my George (The BTS) did when he broke the upper bone in his arm (somehow in his rearing tub as a juvenile).... Vet made a pin and mended the bone by inserting it in the broken bone.

Sprain will come good in a couple days, a dislocation in the elbow or a break needs a vet .... looks more like a dislocation or break to me.... I've have elbow and shoulder dislocations myself and sometimes popped it back in myself on the --- CRUNCH AND POP AND OUCH !!! --- others were to severe , same left elbow for me --- the longer yopu leave a dislocation the harder it gets to fix as the arm will blow up like a balloon and this makes it harder to move the bones about and sore ....

I wouldn't wait , i'd be off to get xrays done and find out for sure , and if broken or dislocated the vet will want to fix it under a general ... if a sprain , he'll likely send you home with beardie and some painrelief. Better off knowing for sure IMO.

Any vet can do xrays .... and they can always call in the experienced specialist vet if needed.
Cost is a secondary issue ... if broken or dislocated it needs attention right away.

Hello,

Oh bless her! She definitely hurt it on the ladder & hammock. They are so nice to have but sometimes a hazard! I am sure she will be perfectly fine, but probably does hurt some though.
At least she is trying to use it so hopefully it is just a sprain but not broken.
She sure is colorful, too. I hope she gets better soon!

Thanks everyone :) yeah I agree on most cases cost wouldn't matter except I'm unemployed right now so literally no money. I'll take her in today and hope it's just a sprain. I can cover a hundred bucks... any more and I'm in trouble.

I don't think I'll be putting any ladders back in. Of course I don't know for sure that's the culprit but she's been running around crazy and that's the only new thing she has. Fingers crossed!

AHBD is so wish that's true but I've got her on my headboard where her secondary basking/uvb spot is. She's trying to move her leg and her whole right side is like rippling. Her beard isn't horribly black, just the morning darky, and her tail isn't at all dark now her lights on. Just looked like she was trying to use her side muscles to move her leg. I guess I was hoping it would be a little better this morning. It's not swollen at least...

Even a sprain would be painful + take time to heal. If you've ever sprained your ankle, you know it takes a bit of time to heal + be able to walk on it again.

So I'm hoping it's just that, but it may be more serious. Are you having it looked at ?

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
