We are finished with her week of medicine. she still is having alot of problems moving. she still will not eat or drink on her own. shes way more alert but other than that nothings changed it seems. ill give her more time to recover and see if anything changes.

What did the reptile specialist say? Did they do cultures to find the cause of the infection she has? And what antibiotic was she given? Did they give you probiotics to give her to combat the antibiotics making her tummy upset?

I'm not sure what infection they think she has that would account for her not being able to move correctly or hardly at all. It sounds like they saw that her white blood cells were elevated and then just gave her a broad-spectrum antibiotic without doing any cultures or anything else to locate the source of the infection and to make sure she was given the correct antibiotics. Did they say anything about the chance of an egg rupturing inside her, causing not only the elevated white blood cells but also possibly causing her pain, or potentially pressing on her spinal column and causing the trouble moving?

When you say she cannot move or has trouble moving, is she dragging her back legs, or is it all of her legs? I think something else that you might want to do is post the results of her blood work for us to see, Tracie especially may catch something that a non-reptile vet might not, like her uric acid levels, blood Calcium levels, etc.

it seems the got to her sooner than expected. xrays show nothing abnormal, but a blood test showed she has an infection so shes now on anti inflamatory and anti biotic medication. thank you all! ill let you know how she does

How's she doing now ?

I realize it's early days for her treatment and it's likely take a while before she shows much in the way of improvement , guess I'm hoping there for something positive in her future outlook.

i have no idea what kind if infection they think she has. they didnt say. they said theres nothing abnormal like a ruptured egg in her xrays. and she can move all her legs, her front right leg seems to be the weekest, but they all seem too weak to carry her weight or anything. shes been using her head to help drag her along the ground. they didnt give us any probiotics. and im sorry but i dont have her blood results. they didnt even offer to show us the xrays or bloodwork.

That's easy fixed , since you paid for the blood work and xrays , they are your property all you need do is ask for them to be sent to you (by email say and they have no choice but to provide them).

I hope she comes good and is back to here old self ASAP.

Hello,

If you can, you could try asking for a copy of the blood tests. Most of the time, they will provide
it to you if you ask.
How is she doing today?
They said she didn't have metabolic bone disease then? I hope that she can regain some mobility.
If she injured herself somehow, that could be causing difficulty in walking.
Keep us posted on how she is doing.

Hello,

That is wonderful to hear she is eating on her own now! I am glad to know she has improved some now. I hope that she gets back to normal & that she is able to move how she once did, as well.
Definitely keep us posted on her!

Hello,

I am happy to hear she is shedding & is still active now. It sounds like she has made a lot of
great improvements, bless her. I hope she continues to get better, it had to have been just
as frustrating for her as it was for you, too.
