First Time Beardie Owner - Meet Spud`

Hello All,

I am brand new to the world of reptiles and would love some great tips, tricks and anything else you found helpful or wish you knew when first owning a beardie. My girl is named Spud and she is 1.5 that I got from someone on online. They originally bought her for their son and he developed a disinterest in her. For food I have been feeding chopped carrots and cabbage along with Dubia Roaches. I attached pictures of Spud and her habitat. As a new owner I'm nervous but excited and will take any advice offered. The basking area has a temperature gauge but the cooling area does not, the rock structure at the top is actual stone and gets quite warm, the large structure underneath it is painted and sealed styrofoam that I notice she has issues climbing. I definitely want to upgrade things and started doing so in small batches.

Hi. Congratulations on becoming a beardie parent :) I would recommend you replace the uvb light with a reptisun 10.0 t5. Also good greens are collard, mustard, kale etc... Feeders you want live bugs. Like Dubai roaches, silk worms, blsf, super worms, horn worms. Do you have calcium and vitamins for her? You should also get a digital thermometer with a probe so you know the temp on the basking spot.

Yes please invest in a 24" Zoo Med UVB fixture w/a Reptisun 22" 10.0 T 5 bulb --- coils are NO GOOD --the Zoo Med comes w/ a 5.0 bulb hang onto it - it can be used as a back up but you want the 10.0 bulb and also get a digital probe thermometer --- temps for a juvenile / adult should be 95-100- they do not like real hot temps-- if the rock is getting too hot when you get the actual temp the probe should be placed on the spot where she basks for 10 min or so --- please get find something else thats not going to burn her -- if you need more help please ask

Hey, thank you both for your feedback! I'm sorry that I responded so late but there's just been a lot going on. I am making small upgrades, got a probe temperature gauge and am now working on replacing the current UVB light.

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
