Howdy,

I kept Green Anoles as a kid in the '60s. STAR TREK had premiered the year before, and Mr. Spock was all the rage, so I named my first Anole "Mr. Spectrum" (hence my handle).

Getting back into reptiles has been on my "bucket list", so now that I'm retired, I've been watching dozens of videos and reading dozens of websites on dozens of lizards (i.e doing my homework :) ) Clint Laidlaw & Reptiles Magazine are 2 of my main gotos. I decided to start with a bearded dragon. Like DorgEndo in another post here, I think I prefer the wild/natural colorations & spikiness over most of the morphs (no offense to anyone). I have a name picked out, but that'll have to wait until said lizard is obtained.

I'm currently building an enclosure from 3/4" (18mm) Baltic Birch (60"W x 24"D x 25"H), and we'll be attending 3 reptile shows between now & November. After meeting some breeders & checking them out, I'll pick out a nice beardie.

Glad to be aboard. :D

You have done your homework. I'm honored at the mention. Also a big Star Trek fan. One advice my vet gave me, that has been very helpful, is keeping something like a 3-ring binder for my animals. You can print out helpful care guides. Keep a calendar for vet visits and vet and animal hospital information for each critter you keep. I only have a few pets, but it has been helpful.

Meeting breeders first hand at a reptile show sounds exciting. Best of luck on your adventures ahead.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
