Hi all

My other half loves a free to good home last time a corn snake, now since he has no room at his I'm a proud parent of Draco a 7 month old beardie male I've been told. This was sprung on me so I've been googling my wee ass off looking for info. He came with a full viv set up UVb light heat lamp etc both on timers. Everyone knows how when you google a cold it tells you have cancer so I thought I'd ask the experts.
1. Since I've had him hes been eating 4-5 hoppers plus 3-4 morios and most of a dish of greens a day is this enough?
2. The last 2 nights (since I've started feeding live food first night was just greens no pet shop open) hes been glass surfing. Tonight there was still a Hopper right next to him and he totally ignored it to glass surf. What could it mean, I put a towel over the front of the viv, the other 3 sides are wood incase it was me or his reflection and he was still at it 15 mins later but had to go back and take the hopper out so it didnt bite him or anything.
3. The viv has stick on thermos which by the wonder of google says aren't ideal so does anyone have recommendation for cheap ish (uk) spot readers or similar

Thanks for your time, I'm just trying to do the best for my new baby

Hi Stace!

Can you post a picture of your setup maybe?

How long have you had Draco?

They can go through relocation stress when their environment changes. This can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. It's good that he is eating, sometimes they won't when they first start going through the relocation stress.

If he's 7 months old he should still be growing. Ideally you'd offer him his salad every day, and offer him as many feeder insects as he will eat once or twice a day.

Glass surfing is part of the relocation stress, they are just stressed and scared. Try not to leave any insects with him overnight, these will stress him out too. Plus, they have been known to nibble at dragons and cause injuries over night.

The stick on thermometers definitely aren't suitable! I'm not sure about the prices in the UK but most pet stores have digital with probe end thermometers for pretty cheap. Once you get one of those we can measure your basking surface temp, and make sure his temps are all correct for him!

No idea to add a pic of his set up  I'm on a tablet and it's not easy lol

He gets fresh greens every day, spring green cabbage and blueberries are his favourite. I've had him a few days

I wouldn't leave him with live feed the rigmarol to get that hopper he wouldn't eat out was horrendous lol

Sorry another question, I've not had him out yet. I'm waiting on him getting comfy plus I'm scared to hurt him. Hows best to lift I'm and how do you know when he's ok with that

Thanks :D

Here is how:

You need to right click the image to get the image url, not the websites url. Sorry that was my mistake lol!
His tank setup looks fine, does he have a uvb bulb too? It looks like there is another light in there giving off that blueish light?

Yea there is UV bulb spans the length of the viv attached inside on clips.

I've only ever seen him in his hammock but I know he comes down too his log since he left me a lovely big poop to clean up lol but since I've got him I've been at work during the day so tomorrow I might see him move about more

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
