My husband and I are new to the reptile world and adopted a baby at Repticon after a bit of research. He seems to be really warming up to us and he is just the coolest guy! I thought it’d be good to join this forum so I can learn more and seek help if/when needed.

Welcome to the forum--- can you post pics of his tank and lighting so we can see what kind of set up you have for Doug and maybe give you some pointers for him thanks

Struggling to figure out how to add more pictures. I will tell you the details though. He is currently in a 20 gallon with a reptisun 10.0 uvb bulb and he has a heating pad on the back wall of his tank. The instructions on the pad were to not put it underneath. The placement does make me nervous since he can get very close since we’ve put up his hammock, but as of this moment he hasn’t tried to touch it. It’s still a bit of a reach for him, but he just likes to sit near it.
He eats dubia roaches (we plan on starting a colony) and he’s a bit picky with his greens but we’ve learned that he likes radicchio, yellow bell pepper, yellow squash, carrots, and radish leaves.
We plan to build him a new enclosure in the next month or so, he’s about 8 weeks old and weighs 13 grams. I’ve read on here that people recommend one at 2x2x4 ft. When we do, I think I’ll go for the uvb tube and heat lamp instead of the 2-in-1 bulb. We also are converting our dining room into an animal room and moving our 3 fish tanks in there, then dragon-proofing it for him to explore when he gets a bit bigger.
Any advice is appreciated.

What is the purpose of the heating pad on back wall? If you need extra heat you can invest in a CHE/ no light-- are you having issues getting basking temp up--- what are his basking temps and how are you taking them? Yes the tube reptisun is a good bulb no coil! Separate basking bulb is recommended-- you can go to top if page user image uploader download pics click reply at top of message box click XIMG-- pics should post- let page refresh you should be able to see pics

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
