What in the world is a Reflector?

The title states my problem, I have heard about nothing on these "reflectors". I plan on getting a 22 inch Reptisun 10.0 HO and mount it INSIDE the tank. I getting a tank that is 36x18x18 (50 gal).

Anyone who can explain and provide links would be nice.
