Hello,

A few days ago I started beardie sitting for my friend while she was on vacation. I have a beardie as well. I was told from the breeder that my beardie was a female (although she always had very male behaviours) and my friend thought hers was a female. So I took them out to meet each other and my beardie flared her beard went jet black and immediately started circling the other super fast and only after a few seconds she hoped right on and starting mating... I guess I can call her a he from now on. Anyway, I saw the “semen”? Come out of my beardie. I was scared to pull him off because he had the other beardie down and was biting her neck. So as soon as he let go I pulled him off. I don’t know if that was wrong to do or not, I just panicked.

What I’m wondering is, is it guaranteed that the female is pregnant now? Or is it just like humans and all by chance. I’m really nervous to tell me friend she could be expecting some eggs... I feel so dumb and irresponsible!

That sounds like typical mating behavior based on what I know. It's not certain that the eggs were fertilized but it's a possibility. If she does lay eggs then they may be viable.

Thanks for the reply!

If she does end up laying eggs, I am not prepared or knowledgeable enough to hatch and care for these eggs. What should I do with the eggs if this is the case?

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
