I finally bought a bigger bulb (100watt) and I think Jessie is much more happier with this than his old 50watt one. I had to mess with it a bit (accidentally got temps up to around 126,, yikes lol) but now I think I can confidentially say their basking temps are about 110/111 degrees F according to a digital thermometer. Is this ideal for them? I've been told they're about the size/age of a 2 - 3 month old baby. They recently had a vet check-up the Saturday before last and are healthy.
Heating bulb is 100watt + brand is Thrive (Petsmart).
UVB bulb is a coil (yes, I will get a tube soon) + brand is Reptisun (Petsmart).
"Substrate" is currently paper-towels because I realized Reptile Carpet is stupid and gross (I plan on installing some tile in the future).
Cool side is 75 - 82.
Room ambient temperature is around 75.
Humidity is 51% (does anyone have tips on how to lower this to something more like 40%? Or is 50% fine? I live in Houston so there's lots of natural humidity here - I'm thinking about getting a tiny dehumidifier specifically for their tank).
