I read a post a while back about someone having problems with a reptisun hood and having measurements of uvb similar to having no reflector at all. Does anyone else have issues with using a reptisun hood?

Are you sure you aren't confusing the reptisun hood with the sunblaster fixture?

I haven't heard of any issues with reptisun's hoods and reflectors.

No, I bought it on amazon and it shipped from Carolina cages. I'm using a zoomed hood, so not sure if the reflectivity is low for that unit. The numbers are not too far off for an unreflected bulb.

It's possibly the hood. You're right, the numbers you're getting are about right for not using a reflector and putting it through a screen so the meter is probably OK. It may be worth picking up a new fixture/reflector and see if that brings things up to par. Maybe try a Sunblaster NanoTech that is the correct size for your bulb and see if that makes the difference.

This is the post I was reading

What are your readings with the hood? I have one (for testing, not in daily use) and it has been working very well paired with an Arcadia 12% as of the last time I tested it.

I don’t have a solar meter so I am just using my observations so I could be wrong. My bd just reacts strange when I run the t5 reptisun And a halogen for basking light. And I don’t know if it’s because he just is happy and excited because of the superior lighting or he’s trying to get out because he runs frantically around the tank digging glass surfing climbing the walls and tries to get his nose as close to the t5 has possible and sometimes just stares right into the light. I would think a t5 at that distance would be crazy strong and he wouldn’t even go up there so that’s why I think it’s not strong enough. So I will then put a megaray in with another halogen for additional light and he will jump up to his basking spot and chill under the light? Any thoughts as to why this behavior is happening. I also think maybe it’s just spring fever And I’m just being a paranoid parent and need to chill out and let him do what he does lol.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
