Ok, I have completed all my planned modifications to the enclosure that we bought for our bearded dragon. The enclosure is melamine and measures 4' L x 2' W x 18" H. Here is a list of the modification I made to the enclosure as well as some pictures. Here is how the enclosure was when I first bought it:

I removed the heating mat, jig sawed the holes for the 2 vents ( 4x16 screen vents), installed the 2 vents, one low on the cool side, and the other high on the hot side and sealed all the edges with hot glue, installed to porcelain light fixtures, pluged the basking fixture into a dimmer, made two acrylic doors and melted two holes big enough for the screws, installed vinyl sheet flooring ( so much easier lol), sealed the edges of the vinyl with a silicone seal (GE type 1), and added a Acurite Thermometer/Hydrometer. Here is the finished (other than furnishings) enclosure:
