Okay so I'm upgrading to a 75 gallon and I need a little bit of advice on UVB. I'm about to order a reptisun t5 ho fixture and the 10.0 t5 bulb, and I was wondering if I would be able to get away with leaving this over a screen or if itd be better if I mounted it inside? I'd prefer to leave it on the screen but if its better for my beardie then I would rather mount inside. Thank you! Sorry I've been searching for info on this all night and keep finding different information!

Hi there,

All mounting on the screen does is cuts down some of the strength, which simply means it needs to be closer to your dragon than it would need to be if it was unobstructed.

The benefit of the t5 is that it's a stronger bulb. So it does much better than a t8 in regards to mounting ontop of mesh.

A t5 with a reflector mounted ontop of the screen should be around 8 or so inches from the basking surface. So if you have a basking rock or log that allows your dragon to get that close to the bulb, you're fine!
If the basking surface wont get that close, you should mount it inside, and allow it to be 12-15 inches from the basking site.

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
