Do any of you know approximately how much a 40 gallon breeder tank weighs with the normal things in it (assuming ceramic or slate tile). I'm looking for a table for a new vivarium and want to make sure it's not going to be so heavy it will bow the table top and crack the bottom of the tank. This happened to me once with a salt water aquarium so I've been wary of it since.

I just weighed my spare 40g breeder with a T5 22'' UVB fixture and bulb, dome fixture with basking light, foam rock sitting in it. It weighs 60lbs. My spare doesn't have any substrate in it but my ceramic tiles (18x18'') weigh 7.2lbs each. I'd imagine this weighs much less than a full aquarium. You could use sand colored non adhesive shelf liner to save some weight (approx 15lbs, needing two tiles to cover the tank bottom).

Thanks so much for taking the time to do that. It really helped in the hunt for something to put it on. I actually ended up with a slightly bigger tank that was on sale for the same price that came with a cabinet stand, so the weight issue is solved.

2nd coffee tables, tv stands work OK for even big heavy home made timber tanks 4ft L x 2ft W x up to 2ft T.

Unlike a fish tank , it wont be full of water (fish tanks need really robust furnature to support the dead weight of water 1 T / cubic m). An old TV stand that used to support an old fashioned tv that was very heavy (my old 68cm NEC weighed about 40kg) will be more than strong enough.

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
