Acrylic is more prone to scratching than glass and even UV hardened acrylic will eventually break down when exposed constantly to UVA and UVB at the levels required by beardied dragons (this this embrittlement due to polymer chains breaking down will take several years).

I recommend a front opening (sliding glass doors) timber (plywood or MDF/laminate) tank as the converted fish tanks with mesh tops are very poor tanks for raising / keeping beardies in.

Acrylic will scratch and look cruddy quickly. I had acrylic doors for a couple years and they were scuffed badly within months. Not worth it. Between the two glass always.

If you are looking to save weight plastic front opening enclosures are getting more common to find and as long as you can get one the right size (4x2x2 feet or bigger) would be my recommendation.

If you are needing a cheeper option then a plywood build with glass doors would be a good way to go. Personally I like plywood more than MDF or melanin laminate; it's lighter and more durable.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
