Hello, I recently got a bearded dragon when the previous owner had to move and couldn't take it with them. I have read all over the internet that 75 gallon tanks are good for adult bearded dragons and also that front open tanks are good. I have had some trouble finding a front open 75 gallon tank available. It would be much appreciated if anyone could assist me with a company name or a link to where I could purchase a 75 gallon front open tank. Thank you.

So 75 gallon tanks (roughly 48" x 19" x 22") are a good SIZE, but when you get a large size like that, you won't be getting a standard tank. You will need a custom one, which can be made pretty easily yourself. If buying one online it will probably cost you $200-$500, while building one yourself (assuming you have the tools will cost $100-200) Most people on here will recommend a 4x2x2, which seems to be an ideal size.

Thanks JessPets, when building one should I go for acrylic or glass? Should I cut it myself or have someone else cut it for me? And should I try to make a sliding glass door or opening ones or just go the easy method and use a screen top which opens?

1) It really depends. I personally used glass, because (a)it was cheaper, and (b) I had read a whole lot of things saying that acrylic scratches and that they eventually turn yellow and warped. On the other hand, it is suppose to be stronger.

2) If you get glass from Lowes, they will cut it for you (which was a huge plus for me) and I'm pretty sure if they mess it up they will replace it, so you don't have work about that. I'm pretty sure Lowes and Home Depot will cut wood for you. I cut mine myself, but it really is up to you.

3) I have to say, SLIDING. I was going to do front opening, but it was a lot more work.

4) Just cut holes for vents and use mesh, wire, screen, or plastic vents.

Check out this thread, it is awesome: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=66704&start=60

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
