Hi everyone. im completly new to beardies but am doing great research on them to prevent any terrible mistakes! after reading the newbie care sheet i had one main question, what is the best height and location placement for a reptisun UVB in a 55 gallon tank? Also what is the difference between a reptisun 10.0 and a reptisun 10.0 HO? what one would be best for me and my tank? thank you in advance!

Hi,
I'm glad you are doing your research beforehand. It will help out a lot to have everything set up properly from the beginning. I've seen the ReptiSun 10.0 marked as HO but I think they're referring to it being higher output than the 5.0 (which it is). The real difference is between the T8 (older, lower output) and T5 (newer, higher output) style bulbs. In a 55g tank I recommend getting a T5 bulb and fixture that runs about 1/2 the length of the tank. It can be mounted right on top of the tank on the basking side and has an optimal range at about 12'' or so above the basking area. I suggest either of these as good choices:

This fixture http://www.amazon.com/Sunblaster-904296-NanoTech-Fixture-Reflector/dp/B00AKKUBDQ
With this bulb http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-ReptiSun-10-0-Lamp/dp/B00AQU8HAO/

Or this combo set http://www.lightyourreptiles.com/22-t-5-ho-fixture-high-output-with-arcadia-d3-12-ho-bulb/

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
