I'm setting up my 40 gal tank and wanted opinions. I purchased a 24" T5 reptisun and to mount it on the inside of the tank I was planning on mounting it to a 1x6 along with a ceramic light socket. Then make a custom frame to put screen in the left over space. Also any recommendations on bulb wattage, figured got with a 75w or 90w with a dimmer switch.

With a 40g breeder (I'm guessing the sides will be about 18'' high) I would mount a T5 light on top at 18'' above the floor and 12'' or so above the basking spot. Provide at least a few hides/shade areas and this should give you a nice UVB gradient and output at the basking site. With basking light wattages, you may need to play around with it a bit. I use a 150w reptile basking light on an adjustable stand that gives me proper temps at 19'' up. You may find that a different wattage will work well in your enclosure. It's more a matter of trial and error. You want to get it so the wattage is high enough without having to engage the dimmer very much.

Since I'm covering about half the opening with a 1x6 board I shouldn't need too high of a wattage bulb.

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate

What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
