Lizard that Kills Lyme Disease

Postby MrSpectrum » Mon Aug 26, 2019 3:46 am

Whilst surfing YT a couple weeks ago, DW & I came across a channel called Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't. We think it's hilarious (YMMV! He's rather crude) You never see the guy (Tony Santoro) in his own videos, except for his heavily tatooed left hand (with a ruler tatooed along one finger). This morning, we found a video about him, and he looks completely different than the mental image we had both imagined.

What's this got to do with the thread title? One of his videos:

WHA We'd never heard of this little fellow (the lizard) before, let alone his amazing hematological ability. I imagine some/many of you who live in its range (Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Northern Mexico, and the surrounding area) probably have.

Here are a couple of articles on the lizard...

There is also an Eastern Fence Lizard, but apparently it doesn't share its cousin(?)'s medical prowess.

Cool!

These are the lizards in my backyard. And the only lizards I've ever seen here in cali my whole life lol. I never knew that about them.

I've got a bunch of little itty bitty babies running around outside right now. Seems like an odd time for them to hatch but weather stays pretty mild here anyways.

Well the wiki says the eggs usually hatch in August so I guess that makes sense lol.

Cool! :)
