A few months ago they had a huge Rhino Iggy in there that a school teacher ended up buying as a class pet. He was well over 4' long and just a sweetheart. We got to handle him before he was gone. The other day we were over at the herp shop picking up some nasty crix for the lacerta and lo and behold there was another big guy there. Not as big as his predecessor but still quite large. He measures at 30" and what a sweetie. well we just had to have this guy.
So here he is James Dino (JD):

not sure of his age I am thinking 2-3 years I don't have a scale but I figure around 5-6 pounds. he is 30" long. The other one they had was easily 3X his size all around but only about 4' maybe long. they named JD at the pet shop little dino as his predecessor was named dino. but Little D just didn't seem right. so I was thinking of the movie The Doors and when Jim Morrisson jumped up on the car and proclaimed "Iam the lizard king" Jim came to mind as JD holds himself proudly hence the name James(jim,Jimbo)Dino. he is a great guy and very docile. still needs some work for handling as he gets a bit energetic and wants to run. Took him to petsmart to look for stuff for his house and he was drawing a crowd. What a ham he was eating it up.

rhino's are wicked hams lol at least you can take yours to petsmart, frankie isn't very fond of leashes yet, we still need to work on that :) ours are probably around the same size/age. the one you saw that was 4 feet was more than likely full grown-that's as long as they get, but they do get heavy, somewhere in the range of 20-25 pounds! i can't wait til my iguana weighs more than my dog lol

The people at the pet shop were working with him also to get him easier to handle. JD took to our shoulder right off and putting a leash on him was a bit difficult with him on the counter at the pet shop. Once it was on he didn't mind though since we either carrier him or let him ride in the buggy.
Better lighting and a day or 2 of getting used to his new home and here he is

lol exactly what it is
that's why we took him to petsmart right after we got him
it is the giant econo one
Today though I found a 6' tall enclosure on Craigs List for $60
needs some work though but getting it done
will probably use the dog crate for an outdoor enclosure this summer

That's allright I'll be 97 if I get one this year. I have a twelve year old, she can inherit it :D That is a nice looking cage for 60 bucks! I never find good deals until I don't need them :)

stripping out and re-doing the inside but the outside just needs touching up. It has 8 doors, 4 glass ones in the front and 4 wooden ones from the back. gonna have to add wheels so I can access the back also once I get done with it. Also this guy had tons of melamine to sell. I picked up 10 pieces 1" thick @ 2'X7' for $30 also. I love running into deals. One of my beardies enclosures I found at a thrift store. It is a cross-fire clone with glass doors on roller tracks just a measly $30. My uro has a vision cage I picked up used at the pet store for $40 had to replace the glass for another $40.

willa, i have some pics posted of him in photo expressions, but he is a little bigger now.

and yes, i've read they can live anywhere from 20 to 80 years! it seems to me there's not a whole lot of research on that, but i will probably have to will him to someone as well.

they are wonderful creatures, very dinosaur-like and full of personality. frankie tries to eat my polished toenails all the time lol-watch out for that ;)

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
