Worms

My beardie is 5 months old. As far a protein I give her mostly dubia roaches but do mix it up with crickets. I have been wanting to add some worms to the diet but had some questions. I have given her a few wax worms and she spit them out... so I am guessing that's a no for those.

Research has told me that hornworms, phoenix worms, and silkworms are the best for them. And other worms would be secondary.


My questions are:

Is that true that those are the main worms you should feed your dragon?

What age are these appropriate to feed to your beardie?

How to do you size the worms according to your dragons size?

Never feed a insect/worm larger than the space between the eyes
silk worms are a good staple feeder
super worms are good for treats like 2-3 times per week
horn worms are good for hydration and can be feed a few times per week
meal worms are also good for adult dragons- the exoskeleton on them is a little harsh on babies and can be fed several times per week for adults
wax worms should be fed sparingly they are real fatty and if fed too much can cause liver issues
BSFL are good real good for babies - adults like them too they are a good staple feeder as they are calcium enriched -- they are also known as calci worms nutri grubs phoenix worms --
IMO dubias are the best staple feeder along w/ silk worms - crickets tend to give parasites you can feed crickets I would just mix them up between the dubias -- and silk worms and BSFL since you have a baby still - the BSFL make great salad toppers - so make sure your feeding salads now too

OK thanks, yeah I put a salad in every morning although she doesn't eat much of it.
I guess my question is I have not really seen worms that are smaller than the space between their eyes, at least at pet stores. I guess those would have to be specialty ordered? That is how I get my dubias.

So can silkworms and hornworms be fed at any age, assuming they are small enough?

Silk worms are soft and usually able to be eaten by most little dragons -
I have not found any smalls lately the website I go to usually to get silks has been out of the smalls - usually when you order bulk silk like 50 they come small - then you can grow them out - they dont grow real fast -- you can look at this website and see if they have some smalls

But yes you can get better insects and cheaper in the long run than from Petstores - I only get stuff from there if I am really in need of it quickly -- I can post websites for you if you like then you can go look for worms / dubias etc--------------where are you getting dubias from now?
