I started a Dubia Roach colony but Pogo my Bearded dragon does not seem interested. He loves his superworms and eats some of his greens. When I give him dubias he may eat one but then I find them roaming my house. My cat loves it but my husband does not. what should I do. Is it okay to just feed him Superworms and greens?

Thank you,
Sheila

Because I put them in a container but they get out and I find them on the floor. How big should the dubias be to feed them to Pogo? I have all sizes. What do you put your dubias in to feed your dragon? :D Than you,
Sheila

I keep my dubias in a 10 gallon aquarium and feed them dubia food and carrots for hydration -- I feed my 11 month old 1 inch roaches and my older one gets the big ones they are like big --- the roaches are placed in a glass bowl in the tanks -- the 1 inch seem to stay in the bowl but the real big ones climb out --- and end up in the tank - I usually haft to get them out - I find them hiding behind the cave/ platform rock in Hiccups tank if he hasnt eaten them - he mainly is eating silk worms now but I feed him alternate back and forth -- my 11 month old Blaze is eating both - this is besides the salads every day and 1-2 super worms I give Blaze -- Hiccup wont eat anything but horn worms and silk and butter worms when I can get them-- if you look at the post Blazes tank update you will see a picture of him to give you an idea of how big he is

SJ,

There are many different feeders available on the market. Dubias are a good choice, but there are several others to choose from. Variety is the spice of life, or so they say. There are many choices available. Do your research and offer as many different varieties as you can. He/She will let you know.

For your dubia storage container aquariums do work great if on hand as the glass is not somethign they can climb. You can also use something like https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-18-Gal-68-L-Tote-Box-Titanium/716536537 and put a ring of the slick packaging tape (clear and very smooth) around a couple inches from the top while making sure egg crate for them to climb on is below that line. For me I then cut a hole for some ventilation and hot glued aluminum window screen over the hole.

For feeding I use https://www.joshsfrogs.com/josh-s-frog-s-no-escape-porcelain-food-dish-large.html
They are out of stock right now, but its a good reference. They have a lip at the top that comes back in over the dish so that if they try to climb out they end up hitting that lip and cant hold on and fall back in the dish.

For the size to feed the general rule is nothing that is bigger than the space between their eyes.

Wish I lived near you so I could get your colony, our little girl goes bonkers for them! ?

So there's this Etsy shop called "Stroodies" that sells bowls that are supposed to be bug proof. I've considered getting one, but our girl gobbles every bug so quickly I haven't found the need.

My problem is My dragon is in a home made cage not aquarium so if he does not eat the dubias they can escape the cage through the smallest opening. So any suggestions would be helpful. I wish I could down load a picture of my cage but I don't seem to be able to or maybe I am not allowed to yet.
Thank you, Sheila Frank

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
