Superworm Question

So I've heard people say that both mealworms and superworms can cause impaction in bearded dragons, but at the same time I've seen posts saying superworms can be used as a staple feeder. Overall, are they safe to feed an adult bearded dragon without the risk of impaction, or should they be only be given once in a while?

I use them as a staple for mine, but I’m going to be switching to a staple of BSFL because they’re healthier and they can’t get impacted easily. I believe they can be used as a primary staple but are best used as either a secondary staple or a treat.

Superworms and mealworms are treat feeders, possibly for adult bearded dragons (20+months) they can be used as staples as adult beardies only eat twice a week for protein so its most likely not going to cause fatty liver disease as it'll only be given twice a week or once a week along with other insects.

In beardies less than 6 months mealworms and superworms will cause impaction.
Beardies above 6 months however can eat mealworms and superworms occasionally, for mealworms maybe 5-10 every other day to every two days with superworms 3-4 max once a week or twice a week.

They are treat feeders so they aren't exactly good for a growing beardie that needs tons and tons of protien at a young age rather than tons of fat.
