My BD has crawled out of his hide for the 2nd time during brumation, been sitting and observing most of the day.
He seems o be really dehydrated, (has almost loosish skin, lost so much elasticity) but to clarify, is currently crawling down my arm and across my desk, not wanting to be contained, licking things, with pretty bright eyes. He has super light stress marks on his tummy that slowly got lighter throughout the day, while he sat unbothered.
, so he doesnt seem sick, haha
In the past, he doesnt lap up water, nor does he lick drops off his snout.

I have small syringes- should I bathe him, and syringe feed a small amount of water?

Try the bath and see if he will drink -- do not let him drink so fast if he starts to do that he will aspirate and you dont want that if he starts to drink really fast pull him -- then try again - you can syringe feed him the water BUT YOU MUST GO REALLY SLOW and let him drink a little at a time let him swallow first before adding more -- watch his poops they will tell you if hes dehydrated they should be firm moist and dark and urate should be firm moist and white --- chalky looking or dried out looking hes dehydrated

Ok I will try the bath and slow drops of syringe fed water- this is the second time he has crawled out during brumation, and he went back under his hide last night. He doesn't sleep through everything though, 1/5 of the time or less i look over he's got one eye open, and if i open his door when they're closed he wakes up. Never crawls out though, other than the 2 times

Yes 1-2 - you can syringe feed him till his poop looks like I posted or till hes excreting excess water

I syringe fed him some water and he used the restroom either day of or day after.
TMI- but when i cleaned up after him (with a glove, paper towel) his urate seemed pretty dry.
Gross, ik, sorry :(

He seems to be pretty much done with brumation, so I am going to give him some more water.

Any suggestions on the first foods to reintroduce after several months without food?

Feed him his salads and his insects like normal -- he may not eat alot at one time as his system is not used to eating - as long as he progresses w/ his appetite he should be good - keep an eye on the urate so it starts to moisten up again -- keeping him hydrated will keep him eating

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
