water issues

I actually have 2 questions but this is mainly about water. Merlin is 1 and has started to just stop drinking water... I should say he won't drink unless I mist him outside of the tank. I have a large water dish in a corner and spray most days however, he will not drink from the dish unless I put him there and he runs away when I mist him in his tank. I have been really busy with school recently and have not been able to take him out much. In his tank, he is very lazy and mostly sits all day unless he eats. He poops regularly and seems pretty healthy otherwise. I am just wondering if there is a change I should make, or if something is wrong. so concisely the questions are: what should I do for the water? and does he look healthy in the pictures/ are there any changes I should make to his life? Will put basic info below along with some pics.

- 1 year old
- In a 6-foot long abt 2-feet wide
- take him out of the tank at least 2 days a week (In highschool so can be busy sometimes)
- Gets greens every day (Kale, collards, and turnip) with varieties of fruit, and dried pellets mixed in
- Also get live dubias or crickets, and when I'm away there is an automatic feeder that feeds pellet food (which he actually doesn't hate)
- 2 100w ches, a 15w T8 on the inside, and another lower power UVB on the outside (mostly for light), 1 50-75w halogen light bulb for basking.
-Clean tank, and water dish when needed

Excuse the messy tank haven't got to clean it yet

Is your dragon eating his salads? If he is start rinsing them before serving make sure the insects are gut loaded feed carrots to the insects but not the dragon----- too much vit a--- you do not need all those lights- one good UVB the T 8 it needs to be inside the tank w/ No clear plastic cover over the bulb - basking decor directly underneath 6-8 inches-- I recommend upgrading to a T 5 for the size of the tank - one good bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 95-110 for a juvie-/ adult dragon----- CHE's should be used for heat at nite ONLY if tank is falling below 65-- your basking bulb should be able to keep basking temps an mid tank in the 90's--- cool side 80's

He eats his salads most days unless he's being picky. I also dust his insects in calcium and a vitamin mix (picture of the vitamin dust below) his one UVB is low power and on the outside of the tank on top of the screen. one che is actually only 50w and only comes on at night and the other comes on whenever the temp drops below 87 degrees. Everything else seems normal he eats regularly, I try to make sure his lights stay good and he gets everything he needs, I'm just worried about the water thing.

Calcium dust is just a common brand that was recommended

Proper basking temps for the age of the dragon and correct UVB is essential for the health of the dragon----- they control behavior and over all health-- your dragon is dehydrated if his urate- is chalky and dried out looking- if the poop is firm moist and dark and the urate- is firm moist and white your good-- most dragons get the majority of their hydration from their greens - rinse them before serving and he will get his moisture from them - I posted what temps you need in the tank

I’ve actually never kept a water dish in my girls viv - and she’s 10 - so for straight oral hydration she will drink in her bath - especially when make the water move with my finger or I leave a little stream of water going for motion. She seems to really really respond to water movement more than still water. She also drinks from a syringe when she’s outside the viv. It’s great tho that yours will drink when you mist - that’s a good thing. If you’ve never tried a soft tip or regular tip syringe or some gently moving water (if your dragon like baths) ... that’s always something you could try out! ???

I also use a T8 with a Repti Sun 10.0 - that’s pre-mounted inside her custom viv. I only have one UVB source For her though - which is directly over her basking area and then a little bit out from that so she can easily get away from it if she needs to. If your looking for extra light rather than extra UVB you could always use a super low wattage bulb instead that won’t put out much heat. Just so you don’t have a ton of lights going on at one time - and that the UVB source is where he basks ?

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
