I’ve had Apollo for 3 days now, he will let me pet him, sometimes likes it, some times doesn’t, but any time I try to pick him up, he just backs away, what can I do? I just want to take him out and try bonding, I set up a little corner I can sit with him while he finds around without escaping. Please help

Is something preventing you from picking him up anyway?

Some experts say that if you don't follow through, the BD will learn that his behavior will put you off anytime he doesn't want you to pick him up. This can cause problems for times when you might have to pick him up. If he knows he will get picked up anyway (and he's learned to trust you) he should stop such behaviors & tolerate handling more easily.

Thanks, just seconds ago actually he let me get my hand pretty much completely under him, I went to secure him and he leaped off, but it’s progress. I think he is actually okay with being picked up, but we have to build up trust with each other first

It's all about building up the trust. It just takes time. Keep working with him and things will get better :)

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
