I recently bought a new water dish for my lizard, and the sticker with the barcode was stuck on the inside of the bowl. I got it off but there is a lot if sticky residue where the sticker was. Any suggestions on how to get it off? And would it be harmful if I were to use the bowl with the residue on it?

You could try vinegar first. If that doesn't work you can use rubbing alcohol. Make sure you test the rubbing alcohol first maybe on the underside of the bowl to make sure it doesn't actually eat into the surface or color at all.

If that doesn't work you might try a bit of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. That should similarly to brewers wash (or oxiclean) which makes everything very slippery and should allow the residue to slide right off after a bit. Just be sure to rinse well and clean well afterward.

Hiya,

Most of those adhesives are non-toxic and won't harm your dragon. However, particularly if your dragon is still small/young, a sticky enough area can pose a health concern due to them getting toes or tail stuck to it.

As other people have suggested, high acid (vinegar) or alcohol would be my go-to for removal. I would also try peanut butter or olive oil if that does work (the lipids typically will bind with the glue, causing it to disintegrate. Peanut butter has the added benefit of a fine grit to it).

Whatever you use, make sure to rinse and dry it afterwards.

Good luck,

I second the baking soda idea. I used baking soda to get sticky watermelon juice off of a bowl and it worked great :)

Fluker's cleaner isn't too bad either, and the brush it comes with is pretty abrasive so it helps quite a bit.
