I didn’t see a forum for my question. I apologize if I missed it. We bought our little Mushu in Jan on the 9th from Petsmart. I’ve learned that they sell their dragons way too early. We’ve managed to keep our sweet Mushu alive and thriving. She’s just finished her first complete shed. She has grown so much. I was hoping for some opinions on how old Mushu is. This is her weight and length as of 10m ago.
This is the guide I found, just not sure if it’s a good guide to follow.
3 in (7.6 cm) to 4 in (10 cm) = 0-1 months
5 in (13 cm) to 9 in (23 cm) = 2 months
8 in (20 cm) to 11 in (28 cm) = 3 months
9 in (23 cm) to 12 in (30 cm) = 4 months
11 in (28 cm) to 16 in (41 cm) = 5-6 months
13 in (33 cm) to 20 in (51 cm) = 7-8 months
16 in (41 cm) to 22 in (56 cm) = 9-12 months

Hi there, your dragon is doing very well + growing fast. :) They can grow almost an inch a week at some stages for a short while.

That chart is somewhere close to proper averages. Most healthy babies hatch at almost 4" consistently, 3 " is quite small for a hatchling. I've had some hatch as big as 5" at times. So there's a LOT of variation and for different reasons, including health of mom dragon, genetics and care given at all stages of growth.

2.5 - 3 months old would be my guessimate assuming good husbandry from when hatched.

Probably unlikely since Petchains are not known for providing adequate care , and they likely take from "lizard farmers" who provide minimal food and keep the hatchlings in overcrowded tubs for sending the on consignment to the petshops in bulk.. Might be 4 months old , perhaps older.

Sorry I forgot to guesstimate. :) Looks like a 3 month old range, could be a bit older, maybe a bit younger but probably not.

Thank you! We absolutely love our little Mushu! Can’t wait until we can get a harness and be able to play. Mushu doesn’t tolerate much holding. Every evening we hold and live on her. When she try’s to scurry away we put her up. GenerLly it’s not more than 5 m before she’s done! We wait until evening so she’s not as rambunctious and also an hour after her evening feeding to allow digestion under her heat bulb. I’m sure as she gets older she’ll feel more secure.

I have the same question. Pet Smart told me my beardie was 8-10 wks. at 4 inches long. This was at Christmas. Gryphon is now over 15 in. and still shedding often. He can't be only 5-6 months old. Can he? I've also heard Pet Smart doesn't know what they're talking about!

yea they probably were just guessing, my beardie is 19” long and she’s nine months old, so I’d guess your beardie is 8-11 months old.(unless you accidentally bought a German giant, but I doubt that)

You heard right most pet smart employees dont have a clue as to what they are talking about same w/ Petco --- unless they actually own a beardie and have had experience I would not take advice from them at all------------------

I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.

i feel so sad reading your about me 😢
Clapton is acclimating okay I think. He's quick as lightning so I'm not sure how much I should bring him out of his house yet. He's not at all interested in his salad though. I wonder if I should change what I'm giving him. Least he's eating his crickets.

Things to do:
Buy calcium powder
Material to raise surface for basking spot
Scenery decals for back of tank
