Hi there my large beardie has a log arch which he basks on..

When he gets hot or fancies a change or whatever he sometimes goes underneath the log as its like a tunnel.
The trouble is he then goes into a heavy state of sleep because hes cooled down.
Ive just come home to find him under there. Ive removed it so the bulbs on him now but hes still asleep at the moment moment.

He also does the same if he goes under a chair or cupboard. He likes dark hiding places but then sleeps and we have to move furniture to get him out.
Is this normal that he can't wake himself back up? We are quite new owners. Going away for a week soon, my dad will come to feed him but im thinking im going to have to take the log out whilst we are away

All mine have similar half log hides. All mine have a heatpad sandwiched between tiles under the hide, so they don't get cold in their hides - even at night.
Their heatpads are run 24/7 and temperature controlled via a thermostat.

Hi I've been told not to have heat mats with bearded dragons by many people on here.
Im happy to use one if it would help him. I have a tile base

Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
