I really like the looks of them and i wondered if they would be easier to keep the proper temperature over glass..Thanks for any advice..I am new to the care of a bearded dragon but i am learning alot..This little guy is about 6 months old..He needed a new home and i was willing...He is adorable..I call him a he but i am not sure..LOL...

Hi there!

Congratulations with your new beardie!:D Both of those cages are great options! They are especially great so bearded dragons don’t see their reflections and get stressed out. As long as there is proper ventilation, either one should be good. (I would lean towards the melamine style, if I were u:) )

Both are pretty common commercially but I see melamine a bit more often. Are you planning on buying one pre-made, or building your own? If you build your own you may have more flexibility on the dimensions and you could use some different materials that may be prohibitively expensive to ship but are more durable.

Stay clear of PVC vivs , the stuff never stops outgassing toxic gases and vapours.

Melamine is the better choice of the two.

Personally I'd go for either marine plywood or acrylic sheets and give particle boards a very wide berth.
