Comments: I use this for my bearded dragon's sand box. She is an adult and loves to burrow and play in this. I would not suggest using this bedding for the entire floor of any cage. A pet store near me, however, uses only this bedding for their baby bearded dragons. Despite my concerns, they tell me "since this is made from walnuts instead of rocks, it's digestible". I don't know where they're getting their test results, but last I checked animals and humans cannot physically digest walnut shells. Sure, squirrels chew the shell open to get to the nut on the inside, but they do not actually eat the shell. Considering how sensitive a young bearded dragon's stomach must be, I cannot understand how anyone would think this way. In any case, the bedding works as a great sandbox for my reptile as it is softer and does not stain like the colored rocks.

Comments: Why would so many people stubbornly insist that this is a good substrate when there is so much evidence to the contrary? Do you just like experimenting with your beardies' lives?! My Breyis will never set claw to this garbage!!!

Comments: OMFG, this stuff is beardie rat poison. When I put it in I found little bettle-like insects, then they were all suprised when I called and told them about it. Stupid people, of course rotting walnut shells attract beetles. Also he kept trying too eat it and that can cause impaction, which is bloody hell trust me. DO NOT buy this product, PLEASE.

Comments: Bad bad product. Walnut shells can cause impaction and are lethal to beardies. As someone else said if you search on google you can see an autposy of the damage it can do to a beardie's insides if ingested. Your best bet is to avoid this product all togeather.

Comments: I have had my beardie since he was about 2-3 months old, never had any kind of impaction problems what so ever with him. Prolly becuse he isnt a clumsy eater. However, 1 of my rescues is a very clumsy/lazy eater (when she decides to catch a cricket, takes a couple tries and usally gets sum substrate as well), I quickly put her to calci sand when I realized her eating habits becuse of the things I have read on this site. My other 3 beardies I have never had any kind of problems with it at all. The other 3 have never had any kind of bowel movment problems or signs of impaction what so ever, I get at least 1 healthy poo a day :)

Comments: When you use desert blend you should keep and eye on your dragon when he eats because some dragons are clumsy and they can take in alot of this substrate. Some dragons however are dead on when eating and they may take in a only a little substrate or even none at all.

Comments: Easy to clean, looks great, beardie loves it. Only good for bigger beardies. Notice all the reviews and comments are reguarding small or baby reptiles. You are not thinking if you put small lizards in a particle substrate.

Comments: i give this a five cause if im right ( theres no picture ) this is like sani chips and my dragons have been on it sine hatchlings and are just fine. so for those of you who use shelf liner and news paper not only do you have to be present to see them dig when they're ready to lay but it looks ugly. oh yeah and the vets say the same about sand. and every professional breeder i have meet uses sand or keeps them outside on real dirt and they do fine!

Comments: If you do a google search, you will find detailed autopsy photos of a beardie who became impacted from this type of bedding and died as a result. Ignore the cute photo of the beardie on the package and run the other way!

Comments: This product has been proven by vets to cause death in reptiles. Bearded dragons should never have this as a substrate. Just use reptile carpet or shelf liner for them. They don't live on sand in the wild nor should they when we put them captivity.
