So I’ve been using tile, I’m in another group and they said that tile can cause joint issues. What are y’all’s thoughts on this? I looked at some loose substrate how do y’all feel about this kind? Hogwash. Logically it makes no sense at all when you think about it. They aren't putting down tremendous amounts of weight onto their joints with each step, and they aren't leaping and jumping all over the place either.

As far as the substrate you picked out, if you want to move to a loose substrate, pick up a bag of playsand at your local home improvement store. A 50lb bag costs about 5-10 bucks, and it will do exactly what the sand you linked to will do.

Ok! Do you think maybe half tile half substrate could work?

Sure it could. It's hard to keep the tile section clean from the loose substrate though. IMO, it's easier to just pick one or the other.

In the past i've used sand and just 1 tile on top of the sand for the feeding area.

Also there are some sand/clay mixes available that get solid when they are dried out but still allow for some digging and cave building.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
