First I want to say that I am thrilled that Calypso likes her baths. I love seeing her swim and splash etc. Some of you may know from my posts and pics that Oscar hates them.

But curiously, she scratches her head and sides with her back feet when in the bath. This is the only time she does this. (like a dog would). It's cute but I wonder why she does it?

Wow, that is funny! Don't know about that one. All I know is Sunny still hates his baths! He will try to jump out of the sink. Eventually, he settles down and will just sit there while I drizzle water over him. But he will fight me every step of the way.

Sounds like Oscar, LOL
He sits where I put him and the only thing he moves is his head, and that is just to give me the stinkeye.

:x Mom! You know I hate my baths! Just like a boy...

Buttercup will scratch her sides and her head in the bath too. She especially does it a lot when she is going to shed. Sometimes when she has a little skin left on her tail she will whip it around in the water really hard too. I think it gets under their old skin when it softens in the bath and it makes them scratch.

I think its a ticklish sort of thing with the water. Shedding is obvious since they are trying to get rid of old skin. But sometimes when I brush at my lizard's large spikes by his ear, he'll scratch me off with his back legs like a dog would. He does the same thing when I drizzle water over his head. It seems more like a ticklish instinct.

My little guy does the same thing it is so cute. He's only a few weeks old and when I put him back in the cage he rubs his face on the branch like a dog would. At first I thought he had mites but the vet said no.

Kazi also scratches his sides in the bath for some reason - even when he isnt shedding. He scratches his head when he gets water in his eyes or ears - which happens because he likes to slide along the bottom of the bath with his head fully submerged - to scratch, he generally tips his head to the side which results in more water going into his ears/eyes!!! Lol!! He has recently begun to 'wave' when hes in the bath as well!!

A ticklish! Hadn't thought of that! It's fun to watch her in a bath. Wish Oscar would swim around so I can see an adult play.
I know she isn't shedding now, just got finished last week.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
