Acting different

Ever since I added this shelf to Vilgax’s tank he’s been showing his black beard a lot and even head bobbing a lot more, he rarely done it before. I’d just like to know it’s he’s stressed or if he’s like… showing off? Showing that this is his. We do have other pets, 4 cats and a husky, but they all get along fine. Even when I bring him out they all ether just watch him for a bit before going about their own thing, or sniff him.

It's hard to say if it's stress or perhaps just getting a new viewpoint of the environment. How long has the shelf been there? I'd probably give it a couple of weeks and see if he settles down. If not, try removing it and see if that makes a difference.

I’d say mid last month? Hasn’t been any other changes in his behaviour. Still eats, still basks, still relaxes in his sand. He even sleeps up on the shelf if he’s up there when his lights go out. They’re are times where goes up there and is fine. No black beard or head bobbing. It really is just random.

It might be coincidence then. Just a seasonal change in mood that happened when you installed the shelf. If he is sleeping there and he is still eating normally etc I'd probably just keep it as-is for now.

Beardies are semi-aboreal by nature and like to climb. They perch up on fence post and stuff in the wild so they can bask and watch their territory.
He likeky is just enjoying the height and asserting his dominance.
Enjoy the show, if you just have one beardie often times you don't get to see their full range of behavior 🙂

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
